Frequently Asked Questions
What is a QuickTale?
A QuickTale is a short audio story, typically 1 to 3 minutes long, attached to a photo about a person, place, thing or captured moment that you can share with family and friends in private groups, or with everyone publicly.

How do I create a QuickTale?
Recording a QuickTale is as easy!
Tap the Create button at the bottom of the screen, then follow these steps:
  1. Tap the photo area to take a picture, or select from your phone’s library.
  2. Type a title for your QuickTale.
  3. Tap the microphone icon to record your story.
  4. You decide who can listen to your QuickTale - leave it Private, or change to Public.
  5. Tap Save in the upper right corner of the screen.
You can add some additional details by tapping the plus (‘+’) sign next to Details before you tap Save. You can change the location, add a description, add tags, etc.
What is an Audio Reaction?
The people you share a QuickTale with can share their reactions by recording a short audio message. As you listen to the Audio Reactions you can hear their true emotions conveyed.

You can record an Audio Reaction to QuickTales you listen to by simply tapping the mic icon on the QuickTale’s Player screen.

If you feel a QuickTale or User is inappropriate based on our community guidelines, you can report the QuickTale or User to the QuickTales Team for review.

What is "Who Can Listen"?
QuickTales have three visibility options that determine who has access to view and listen to a QuickTale.
  1. Public - Your QuickTale will appear in the Listen pages and searches, and anyone can see and listen to it.
  2. Private - Your QuickTale will NOT appear in the Listen pages and searches. Only Connections and Groups within QuickTales that you share it with can see and listen to it.
  3. Unlisted - Your QuickTale will NOT appear in the Listen pages and searches. Only Connections and Groups within QuickTales, and people you share with outside of the QuickTales app can see and listen to it.
In addition, although not a "Who Can Listen" option, when a QuickTale is in Draft mode it cannot be shared with anyone and it can only be viewed by the Creator of the QuickTale.

Can I change my profile information after I create my account?
Yes. Tap your profile picture (or the default one) in the upper right corner of almost any page and you can edit your profile (My Profile) and find other useful information there such as support information, privacy policy, terms & conditions, etc.

What should I make my QuickTale about?
You probably have more stories than you realize.
Some examples might be:
    • Select a recent photo from your phone of you and a friend, and describe
      • where you were,
      • when you were there,
      • what you were doing, and
      • why it is meaningful to you.
    • Select a photo of a parent, grandparent or an object of theirs that reminds you of a poignant or funny story they like to tell.
    • Take a picture or select a photo of a piece of art or memento in your home and describe
      • what it is
      • when and how you acquired it, and
      • why it is meaningful to you.
    • That little known fact about a person, place or thing in your life.
    • That funny thing that happened on a vacation.
    • How you acquired items in your favorite collection and what they mean to you.
    • How you found your rescue pet.
    • Your child's first step.
Where can I find a good picture?
You can upload any picture from your phone’s photo library, or take a new picture using your phone’s camera. If you don’t have a photo you like that is relevant to your story, you can find one on the web, save it to your photos, and then upload it to your QuickTale from there.

How does Location work?
We use a QuickTale’s location to help people listen to stories about things that are physically near them, or where it is located. When you create a QuickTale, the Location field will enter a default location that you can keep or change.

QuickTales will first check the photo that you take or upload and use the embedded location. If there is no location data, it will use your current location. You can change the location simply by clearing the Location field under Details and typing a different location.

Regardless, QuickTales will only display the name of the location (e.g., Mount Rushmore or The Museum of Natural History) or the city and state of the location. For example, if you enter your full home address as the location, QuickTales will NOT display your full address to other people, they will only see the city and state displayed.

How do I enter tags for my QuickTale?
When Creating or Editing your QuickTale, simply type a word or phrase in the Tag field, and then tap Done for each Tag you add. Use Tags to help others find your QuickTale, or to keep your own QuickTales organized for easy access in your Library.
